Announcements :

 Special meeting at Lions Bhavan at 8 pm on 4-7-09 to discuss regarding eye camp.

Activities :

On 2-7-2008 first BOD and first regular meeting of the lionistic year 2008-09 was held.One new member Mr.Vinod S Naik was inducted to the club.On 12-7-2008 various trees were planted at Balni High School,Karwar.School uniforms worth Rs.12,000 was distributed to 50 students of Balni High School,Karwar.10 Kgs of Pickles was handed to the school for the mid day meal of the students.On 16-7-2008 Dr Anand Pawaskar spoke on AIDS Awareness camp and role of NGO.The programme was attented by more than 20 members and their families.On 26-7-2008 travelling fares was reimbursed to 3 poor students of Karwar who had undergone heart operation at Bangalore.On 30-7-2008 District Governor MJF LION ULARICO J RODRIGUES was on an annual visit to our club.On that occassion 3 sewing machines was donated to poor women of nereby villages.75 kgs of rice was distributed to hostel students of nearby village school.Rs.2400 was given to poor student of nearby village towards school tution fees.DG visit was attended was 20 members and their families.On 30-7-2008 DG and Lions Club Karwar President gave an interview to All INDIA RADIO at Karwar.The interview lasted for 15 minutes and 8 seconds.The DG and Lions Club Karwar President spoke on Youth and their role as NGO's.Club bulletin PUG MARK was released by First Lion Lady Mrs.Lion Robertina Rodrigues.On 9-8-08 blood donation camp conducted at District Hospital.On 15-8-2008 fruits and sweets were distributed to inmates of Remand Home children and destitute women centre at Karwar.One cupboard was donated to primary school at Mekheri village on the occassion of Independence day. 0n 20-8-2008 three new members were inducted to the club.on the same day Rotarain Dr.B Bhaskar spoke on Teenegers and parent relationship.On 5-9-2008 teachers day was celeberated by felicitating two retired teachers of Karwar taluk. On 17-9-2008 two new members were inducted to the club.MJF Lion Nitin Maganalal spoke on protocol and discipline.Region Chairperson attended the meeting.Five days Ayurvedic health check up and YOGA camp was organised at Gurumatt Kajubag,Karwar from 23-9-2008 to 27-9-2008. On 27-9-2008 I zone advisory meet was hosted by our club.Our Zone chairman Lion Ganapathi M Hegde of Ankola presided over the meeting.The meeting was attended by more than 20 members.On 1-10-2008 I regular meeting was conducted.On 5-10-2008 free special health camp and free medicine distribution camp was conducted at Karwar in association with Lions club of Bicholim,and Appollo Victor Hospitals,Goa.More than 350 patients attended the camp.On 15-10-2008 driving licence drive was conducted in association with District legal services and District Bar association.On 19-10-2008 Free dental check up camp was conducted in association with Manipal Hospital at Sadashivagad.More than 300 patients attended the camp.Member of Parliment inagurated the dental camp. On 19-10-2008 the club received an award for peace poster contest.Mr Shreyas Vinod Naik aged 11 years of Karwar was chosen as the winner of the peace poster contest conducted by district 324 D2 and he received the first prize in the contest.Mr.Digambar Kamat Chief Minister of Goa presented the award .3 merit certificates were also won by the children of Sadshivagad school who won consolution prizes in the peace poster contest. The club President attended the function.On 1-11-2008 fruits was distributed to 30 destitute children and women of reception centre and remand home at Karwar on the ocassion of Rajatsova Day.On 2-11-2008 diabetic camp,AIDS awareness camp and general health check-up camp was conducted at Union High school,Majali. 125 patients were given free medicines and treatment at the camp.35 members with lion lady and cubs attended the picnic at Riverside paradise resort,Hankon,Karwar held on 8-11-2008.The members enjoyed the picnic. On 14-11-2008 childrens day was celebrated by conducting singing competition for students of Kadwad school cluster.30 students participated in the competition.Prizes were distributed and sweets were distributed to all the 146 students of the school.At 8.00 pm children day was celebrated at Lions Bhavan for the lion cubs of our club.Dancing,drawing,singing and other activities were performed by children.More than 20 members along with lion lady and cubs attended the function.Our club inaguration day was also held on 14-11-2008.Our charter president Lion.S P Kamat spoke on the occassion.The club members with a heavy heart paid homage to the departed soul of our charter members Lion G K Ram and Lion J L Phayde who expired on 23-11-2008. On 5-12-2008 peace march was held in Karwar to pay homage to the soilders killed in the terroist attack at Mumbai.More than 150 people participated in the march.Several members of the club participated in  the march.From 11-12-2008 to 13-12-2008 Free mega eye camp was conducted at District Hospital,Karwar.672 patients were screened and 255 patients underwent cataract surgery. The patients were given free lenses,medicines,and sun glasses and meals.Post operative check was conducted on 15-12-2008.The eye camp conducted is considered as the biggest eye camp ever in the histroy of lions club,Karwar and in the Region and in the revenue district of Uttar Kannada.It is also considered as the biggest eye camp in the District 324D2 for the year 2008-09.On 28-12-2008 the President,Treasurer and members attended the 2nd Zone advisory meet at Gokarna.They briefed the ZC about the activities conducted by the club .BOD and I regular meeting was held on 7-1-2009.Guest Speaker Mr.Anoop Rathod spoke on the competition on Social Entreprenuership conducted by TechnoServe of Mumbai.The members visited Beth Beth Lehem welfare society at Amrai,Bhaire,Karwar and distributed sweets and clothes to the mentally distirbued patients.The members spent some time with the patients and wished them good health. The PST attended the Regional Conference  at Kudle beach resort,Gokarna on 17-1-2009.10 members of the club attended the regional conference on 17-1-2009.Republic day celebration was observed by distributing fruits to the inmates of remand home and home for destitute women at Karwar.BOD and regular meeting was held on 18-2-09 at Hotel Premier,Karwar.22 members attended the BOD.On March 4th attended III zone advisory meet at Kumta.On 29th March 2009 attended Zone social at Ankola.BOD and II regular meeting for April 2009 held on 15-4-2009 at Hotel Sai International and the agenda was discussed.Office bearers for 2009-10 lionistic year selected.The PST alongwith three other members attended the District convention at Vasco on 18th and 19th April 2009.Four members attended district cabinet installation preparation meeting on 11-5-09 at Murdeshwar.DG Lion Madhava Shetty headed the meeting.Two new members were introduced to the club.They are Lion K T Rai and Dr.Zulfikar Syed.The total strength of the club is 34 members.New office bearers and BOD installed on 1-7-2009.Ne w member Mr.Talekar inducted.The total strength is 35 members.
